I have always been a devoted animal-lover, volunteering with and routinely donating to local MI rescues and sanctuaries. It is because of my lifelong passion for animal care, and my first “foster-failure,” Marley, that Raw Dog LLC exists!
Formerly named “Holly,” my new fur-baby Marley was saved from a puppy mill in Ohio. She was in a very poor state of health when I brought her home, but with the help of dedicated veterinary staff and lots of hard work during rehab, Marley began to recover. It wasn’t until we addressed Marley’s dietary needs, however, that she began to radiate vibrant health! Fresh food was the “missing piece” in the puzzle to her continued good health and overall wellness.
Fast-forward, and Marley and her beloved “sibling” (my second foster-failure), Raja, are eating a biologically appropriate raw food (BARF) diet that I and a panel of DVMs developed, and are absolutely thriving. After conducting thorough research into the pet food industry, I desperately wanted to share this diet and my positive experience with others, and decided to found Raw Dog LLC. I made a promise to myself to never change my tried-and-true formula, and set off to make it affordable and accessible to all who were interested in the benefits of raw feeding for their pets.
To this day Raw Dog LLC upholds its original standard, and does not use artificial colors, flavors or preservatives in any food or treats. All ingredients utilized by our small business are human-grade, and animal products are locally sourced and humanely raised (and fed - no corn meals for ruminants or poultry!). We continue to give back to rescues and sanctuaries we cherish. We will forever strive to help animals with sensitivities lead happy, long lives.
Marley may have passed away, but I am certain that she changed my life for the better, along with hundreds of my client’s animals. Her legacy lives on, both in my heart, and through the products we developed together: “Marloo’s,” our low-calorie 100% chicken snacks, along with our custom, natural Pill Concealer mixture. It puts a smile on my face when I receive feedback about client’s animals enjoying these goodies, and I am sure Marley would be ecstatic, too.
We aim to handcraft, in-house, all food and treats (bully sticks are the only exception). We source meat, organ and bone utilized from local farms and butchers that we maintain close relationships with, and have visited routinely for quality assurance. All animal products are certified human-grade, and are humanely raised (fed biologically-appropriate feed, never corn meals) and slaughtered. No antibiotics or growth hormones are applied to animal products. No artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, grains or gluten will be found in our food or treats. We will always strive to reduce our carbon footprint (reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible), and give back to our community through volunteer work and donations to local animal rescues and sanctuaries.
